I am 23 years old and come from Scotland originally, although I’ve lived in Switzerland, Germany, England and Denmark, before coming back again to Scotland. In my opinion, you can’t beat it! Edinburgh is a brilliant city that blends urban, coastal and rural in a way that makes it brilliant for living and for photography of all kinds.
I love having access to amazing arts and culture, speciality coffee and restaurants while also being able to enjoy all sorts of outdoors activities like kayaking and hiking on my doorstep.

Holyrood Park is a unique historic landscape in the heart of the city, whose dramatic crags and hills give Edinburgh its distinctive skyline. Within the park is a wealth of history and archaeology spanning thousands of years. Arthur’s Seat is one of four hill forts, dating from around 2,000 years ago. As well as it’s rich cultural heritage, the park offers walks, solace, wildlife, volcanic geology and unparalleled vistas of the city from its many vantage points.
Bakehouse Close is one of 80 closes that fall off the Royal Mile. Bakehouse Close is located in Canongate, next to The Museum of Edinburgh and across the street from New Calton Burial Ground.
Greyfriars Bobby was a Skye Terrier who became known in 19th-century Edinburgh, Scotland, after reportedly spending fourteen years guarding his owner’s grave, until his own death on 14 January 1872. The story continues to be well known in Scotland, through several books and films. A prominent commemorative statue and nearby graves are a tourist attraction.
Edinburgh Castle is a world famous icon of Scotland and part of the Old and New Towns of Edinburgh’s World Heritage Site. It was recently voted top UK Heritage Attraction in the British Travel Awards and is Scotland’s number one paid-for tourist attraction. This most famous of Scottish castles has a complex building history.
St Giles’ Cathedral is the historic City Church of Edinburgh. With its famed crown spire it stands on the Royal Mile between Edinburgh Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Also known as the High Kirk of Edinburgh, it is the Mother Church of Presbyterianism and contains the Chapel of the Order of the Thistle (Scotland’s chivalric company of knights headed by the Queen).
