After receiving entries from students across Scotland, we’re delighted to announce the results of the 2026 PicTours Scotland Phone Photography Competition.

This year’s competition challenged students to capture a unique perspective of Scotland using only a smartphone. The standard of entries was exceptionally high, with students demonstrating creativity, technical skill, and a strong understanding of visual storytelling.

🏆 Overall Winner

Aimee McGregor

Congratulations to Aimee McGregor, whose photograph was selected as the overall winner of the 2026 PicTours Scotland Phone Photography Competition.

Commenting on the winning image, the judges said:

“In comparison to the rest of the photos, this one has storytelling. This is really important, since it shows that the photographer thought before taking the picture.

The use of the light source in the background, combined with the lower perspective, creates a real sense of drama. This tension works extremely well with the action portrayed in the photograph.

Will they be able to putt the ball?”

The image stood out for its ability to engage the viewer and create a sense of anticipation. Through thoughtful composition and excellent use of perspective, Aimee captured not just a moment, but a story.

Highly Commended Shortlisted Entries

The judges were extremely impressed by the quality of submissions received. The following students were selected for the competition shortlist:
